Frequently asked questions
What makes Vive Cacao "Ceremonial Grade"?
Unlike industrial cocoa or dark chocolate, our cacao is heirloom Criollo or Trinitario variety, stone-ground in its whole state. We never remove the natural cacao butter or use high-heat processing. This preserves the theobromine and living enzymes required for a true heart-centered experience.
Where exactly is the cacao grown?
Our beans are sourced directly from small-scale indigenous Mayan producers in the cloud forests of Cobán, Guatemala. We prioritize single-origin crops that carry the unique "terroir" of the misty mountains.
Is your cacao Direct Trade?
Yes. We believe the energy of the medicine is only as good as the ethics behind it. We bypass traditional commodity markets to ensure our producers receive a price for their crops that honors their craftsmanship and supports the economic growth of their communities.
Will this give me a "caffeine crash"?
No. Cacao contains very little caffeine. Its primary stimulant is Theobromine, which provides a grounded, sustained energy. While caffeine constricts blood vessels, Theobromine dilates them, supporting circulation and a calm, alert state of mind without the jitters.
Can I drink this every day?
Absolutely. Many in our community use Vive Cacao as a daily morning ritual to replace coffee. We recommend a "daily dose" of 20g–28g. Listen to your body and find the rhythm that serves your unique vessel.
Why does the cacao look slightly "white" on the surface?
This is called "bloom." Because we do not use stabilizers or emulsifiers, the natural cacao butter sometimes rises to the surface during temperature changes. It is a sign of purity and does not affect the quality or taste. It will melt away perfectly during preparation.
Do I have to use a blender?
While a blender creates a beautiful, thick froth, you can also use a traditional wooden molinillo or a simple hand whisk. The key is the intentionality you bring to the movement.
How should I store my cacao?
Keep your cacao in a cool, dry sanctuary away from direct sunlight. Our resealable bags are designed to protect the aroma, but you can also transfer your cacao to a glass jar. It does not need to be refrigerated.
What is the shelf life?
Pure cacao is incredibly stable. When stored correctly, it maintains its potency and flavor for up to 18–24 months.
How long does the journey take?
Once your order is hand-packed in our distribution center, it typically reaches your door within 5–10 business days. You will receive a tracking link the moment your cacao begins its final journey to you.
Do you ship outside the United States?
Currently, we focus on bridging the path between Guatemala and the United States. We hope to expand our reach to other global sanctuaries in the near future.
